Today was a somber reflection on how a forgotten crisis impacts people and the deep suffering it brings. We visited a transit camp for refugees from Sudan. It was remarkable how open and welcoming everyone in the camp was, despite the extreme hardship they face daily. Each person receives one food package per day, and at times, people have to queue for hours, sometimes up to seven, to make it last. When there are many new arrivals, there isn’t always enough food for everyone—or even tents for sleeping. And yet, people are still grateful to have survived the journey from Sudan to Malakal.
